Understanding AI Usage and Service Credits
How AI in Recruiter Workspace uses service credits, how to set your AI allocation, and how to manage it.
How AI Uses Service Credits
Recruiter Workspace includes AI features that help recruiters work faster: AI assistants, resume generation, candidate analysis, and end-to-end workflows in features like Desk. These features are powered by your service credits.
Rather than drawing from your full balance without limit, AI uses a dedicated AI allocation that you fund from your service credits. You decide how much to set aside for AI in advance, so your AI spend is predictable and capped. You are never charged beyond the amount you have allocated.
Setting Your AI Allocation
When your organization is set up, you choose how many of your service credits to dedicate to AI. For example, if your organization has 10,000 service credits, you might dedicate 2,000 of them to AI.
The amount you dedicate is set aside from your service credit balance and reserved for AI. The rest of your credits remain available for your other activity, such as candidate submissions and timesheets. AI usage in Recruiter Workspace draws only from your AI allocation.
To set up or change your allocation, submit a request via our Support Portal here. You can dedicate additional service credits to AI whenever you need to.
How AI Usage Is Measured
AI usage reflects the amount of work performed. Each AI action draws from your allocation based on how much content is processed and which model tier is used. A short question draws very little, while generating and refining several documents draws more.
Because usage is based on the actual work performed, the amount varies from one task to the next.
AI Model Tiers
Recruiter Workspace provides AI models from leading providers, including OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, and Perplexity, organized into four tiers based on capability. By default, Workspace uses Auto, which automatically selects a suitable model for each task. Recruiters can also choose a specific tier or model from the model selector in the app.
| Tier | Best for | Examples in the app |
|---|---|---|
Instant |
Fast, everyday tasks and high-volume use |
ChatGPT 5.4, Gemini 3.1, Grok 4.1 |
Smart |
Balanced quality for most professional tasks |
Claude Haiku 4.5, Gemini 3, Perplexity Sonar |
Thinking |
Complex analysis and reasoning |
Claude Sonnet 4.6, Gemini 3.1 Pro, Grok 4.20 |
Deep Thinking |
The most demanding tasks |
Claude Opus 4.7, ChatGPT 5.5 |
The model selector in the app always shows the current models available in each tier, and the lineup is updated regularly as new models become available. Higher tiers use more capable models that process each task more thoroughly, so they draw more from your allocation for the same amount of work.
Typical Credit Consumption
AI usage draws from your allocation based on the task, the tier, and how much content is involved, so the figures below are typical averages rather than fixed costs.
| AI Action | Typical Cost |
|---|---|
Asking an AI assistant a quick question |
Under 1 credit |
Drafting or rewriting a single item, such as a message, job post, or summary |
Under 1 credit |
Generating one submission-ready resume in Desk |
A little over 1 credit |
Processing a full job order in Desk: comparing five candidates and generating two submission-ready resumes |
About 5 credits |
Running an in-depth analysis with a Thinking or Deep Thinking model |
A few credits |
|
These figures are averages. Actual consumption depends on how many candidates you compare, how long the content is, how many times you regenerate a result, and which tier you use. |
These averages can help you estimate how far an allocation will go for your team’s volume.
What Affects Your Consumption
-
Tier: higher tiers draw more from your allocation per task.
-
Length: longer inputs and outputs use more of your allocation.
-
Volume: processing more candidates or more job orders uses more of your allocation.
-
Regeneration: each time you regenerate or refine a result, it draws additional credits.
When Your Allocation Runs Low
As your team uses AI, your allocation is drawn down. When it runs low, you can dedicate more service credits to AI at any time.
If your overall service credit balance is also low, you can purchase additional service credits through the Beeline Supplier Network using your existing purchasing path.
If your AI allocation is fully used, AI features pause until you add more. This is what keeps your AI spend predictable: you are never charged beyond your allocation, and there are no overage fees.
Managing and Monitoring AI Usage
By default, Recruiter Workspace uses Auto mode, which automatically selects a suitable model for each task. Auto is the recommended setting for everyday use: it matches each request to an appropriate model, so your team gets good results without having to choose a tier. Leaving Auto on is the simplest way to keep AI usage efficient.
Recruiter Workspace tracks AI usage against your allocation and lets your team know as you approach the limit, so you have time to add more service credits.
A few ways to make your allocation go further:
-
Use Auto mode, which selects an appropriate model for each task.
-
If you choose a model manually, pick the lowest tier that meets the need.
-
Keep prompts and inputs focused, and regenerate only when you need to.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does AI use our service credits?
AI uses a dedicated allocation that you fund from your service credits. You decide how much to set aside, and AI usage draws only from that allocation.
How do we set or change our AI allocation?
Your allocation is set when your organization is onboarded, based on how many service credits you choose to dedicate to AI. To change it, submit a request via our Support Portal here.
Will we ever be charged more than our allocation?
No. AI usage draws only from the amount you have allocated. If the allocation is fully used, AI features pause until you choose to add more. There are no overage fees.
What happens when our allocation runs out?
AI features pause until you dedicate more service credits to AI. If your overall service credit balance is low, you can purchase more through the Beeline Supplier Network.
Which AI providers and models are available?
Recruiter Workspace supports models from OpenAI, Anthropic (Claude), Google (Gemini), xAI (Grok), and Perplexity. New models are added regularly and organized into the four tiers above.
Can we control which model our recruiters use?
By default, recruiters use Auto, which selects a suitable model automatically. They can also choose a specific tier or model in the app. Because higher tiers use more of your allocation, leaving Auto on, or guiding your team to the right tier, helps your allocation go further.
